Recommended Hours of Study
We recommended you spend approximately 110 hours of your time studying for the Aromatherapy course. The pace of study is completely up to you. To give an example, if you dedicate 2 hours a week to the course it would take you a year to complete but if you could spare 4 hours a week you could complete it in six months.

Section 1 - Essentials of Aromatherapy
Unit 1 - Introduction to Aromatherapy: Understand the basics of aromatherapy and how it works.
Unit 2 - History of Aromatherapy: Understand how aromatherapy evolved over the years.
Unit 3 - Chemical Components in Essential Oils: Understand the chemical components and people involved with essential oils.
Unit 4 - What are Essential Oils: Understand how essential oil is extracted, their uses, their effects and realise the importance of quality of essential oils.
Unit 5 - The Power of Smell: Understand how the sense of smell works, its importance and its effects.
Unit 6 – Cautions: Understand how toxicity occurs, know which essentials oils to use and avoid in pregnancy, basic guidelines using essential oils, how to deal with problems that might occur and assess any contra indications.
Unit 7 - Carrier Oils: Know the best and commonly used carrier oils, how to correctly store carrier oils, handling carrier oils and the basics of health
Unit 8 - Applying Essential Oils: Assess the correct application of essential oils
Unit 9 – Massage: Understand the different effects of massage, the benefits, basic massages for face, hair and mood.
Unit 10 - Symptoms: Understand which essential oil is best used to treat different conditions.
Unit 11 - Common Essential Oils: Understand the most commonly used essential oils, how they are produced and their best uses.
Unit 12 - Introduction to Other Alternative Therapies: Understand about herbalism, bach flowers, homeopathy, colour therapy, crystal therapy and meditation.
Section 2 - Human Anatomy & Physiology
Unit 13 - Introduction to the Human Body: Understand the Human body structure, its functions, the life process and anatomical terminology
Unit 14 - Cells, Tissues and Membranes: Understand cell structure, body tissues and membranes
Unit 15 - Skeletal System: Understand the functions of the skeletal system, bone tissue, bone development and growth, classifications of bones, division of the skeleton
Unit 16 - Muscular System: Understand the functions of the muscular system, the structure of the skeletal muscle, muscle types and skeletal muscle groups.
Unit 17 - Nervous System: Understand the functions for the nervous system, nerve tissue, and organisation of the nervous system.
Unit 18 - Endocrine System: Understand the endocrine system, characteristics of hormones and endocrine glands.
Unit 19 - Cardiovascular System: Understand the cardiovascular system, heart, and the blood.
Unit 20 - Lymphatic System: Understand the functions and the components of the lymphatic system
Unit 21 - Respiratory System: Understand the respiratory system, the mechanics of ventilation, respiratory volumes and capacities.
Unit 22 - Digestive System: Understand the functions of the digestive system, general structure and the different regions of the digestive system.
Unit 23 - Urinary System: Understand the functions and the components of the urinary system
Unit 24 - Reproductive System: Understand the male and female reproductive system.
