Home Study Entry Requirements

No prior knowledge is required: the course is open to anyone. However, you need to be educated to GCSE Grade C or above.
At Start Learning we believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to expand their knowledge and study further.  Therefore we do not have strict entry requirements; we take factors such as, experience, enthusiasm, self motivation etc into consideration.  Students will be given plenty of resources to help them overcome obstacles.  Start Learning tutors will also aid our students and answer queries.

It is recommended that approximately 100 hours of your time should be allocated towards study for the Life Coaching Course.
This is an excellent course which can also be used as a 'stand alone course' for those wishing to specialise and work as a Life Coach. 
It is also a very highly recommended tool for all Holistic Therapists to broaden their skills and knowledge.

There is no exam as such, although you will be required to complete a series of tutor marked assignments. There is no word count for these assignments although you do have to prove to your tutor that you have fully understood the questions asked.

Q: How does the Life Coaching course work?
A: The great thing about distance learning is that you can study from home or work, at your own pace and in your own time. Students receive a course manual as well as a study guide and written assignments. You will also have your very own professional personal tutor offering unlimited support via email and post.  He or she will be happy to answer any questions you may have and give you advice as to how to complete the course successfully this will last for one year from the day you receive the course.

Q: Can I join any organisations once I enrol on the course?
A: Yes, we recommend you join the Association for Coaching and we will enclose an application pack in with your course.

Q: How do I gain practical experience?
A: Once you have completed the course we recommend you join the forum on the AC web site and try and find a full time coach to shadow in your area.

Q: Are there any recognised qualifications for Life Coaches?
A: No, There are currently no compulsory qualifications required to become a Life Coach but hopefully this will change in the next few years. If you join the AC then you should adhere to their codes of practice.

Q: How do I send in my work?
A: You can post or email your assignments for marking. It is best to send your assignments one at a time so the tutor can mark one and give you the feedback.

Q: If I fail an assignment can I retake it?
A: Yes, your tutor will ask you to resubmit your assignment and give you some pointers as to where you could improve.

Q: What do I receive once I order the course?
A: We will send you ALL the course materials. You can start your studies straight away.

Q: Is there a time limit or any deadlines?
A: We do like you to complete the course within 12 months but we can extend this if you check with your tutor. If you allow 100 study hours, this will give you a good guide. There are no deadlines to meet.

Q: Is there a word count for my assignments?
A: No, there is no specific word count but you have to prove to the tutor that you have fully understood the questions. One sentence answers will not be accepted. Your tutor will send them back to you and ask you to re-do them.

Q: What if I don’t like the course? Can I send it back?
A: Yes, if you are not happy with the course and feel it is not for you, you can return it within 7 days as per the terms and conditions on our web site www.start-learning.co.uk.
